The list
It's that time of the year when everyone is making lists, resolutions mostly. I decided to make one of my own, incorporating some of the things that were left undone from last year and adding a few new ones too.
Things to do before I'm 26:
1. Learn French. Enough is enough, I better start.
2. Travel to at least 2 new places, even if they are nearby.
3. Finish reading 'A Suitable Boy.'
4. Watch all 3 parts of The Godfather. (It's a shame I know)
5. Make 3 paintings and a dozen illustrations for my portfolio.
6. Work towards a healthier self.
I think I should keep it small, I don't really have too much time (2 months will fly by soon)

A girl from my PG..it's her b'day tonight and I thought this would be a neat gift..hope she thinks it looks a tad bit like her!

Sketches
So I have been sketching furiously over the past two weeks. It started off as an assignment from our Illustration class, but I really enjoyed it so I continue to sketch. Here are some of them.

Rasa
We went to this little resort in the middle of nowhere...about an hours drive from Jaipur. Its a eco-friendly resort that has no cement structures. The accommodation is made of canvas (surprising) and other structures are made of p-o-p etc.
We dropped in for lunch and afterwards just sat by the pool relaxing. It was empty as all the other guests had gone to Pushkar (the camel festival just started). The place is quite scenic and I got click-happy.

The food, though a little bit on the expensive side, is tasty and fresh. We really wanted to stay back but the prices for the tents are really high.
The way back had a lot of sights too. Forts, lakes, camels, elephants (my bro-in-law seemed to know each one by its name) and people. It was a fun day trip!
The Amber Fort
I'm really gonna miss Jaipur.

Steam
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Jaipur. Not that I've really been to many, but I love their pizzas. They serve authentic thin crust pizzas and don't burn a hole in your pocket. I was surprised at the latter fact because this restaurant is located in the Taj Rambagh Palace.
The unique thing about this place is that it is a train, refurbished into a restaurant. The steam engine (after which it is named) is a real engine, old but shiny. The picture below isn't very clear but you can make out that it's a train.
The seating inside is nice and cosy. You get a good view of the exquisite Rambagh Palace from the windows and oh, does the palace look gorgeous, all lit up at night. The picture does not begin to capture the glory of the architecture.
Oh, so getting back to Steam, the pizzas are delicious. Also, the spaghetti bolognaise is pretty good. Do try the place.

Pigeons
Jaipur is full of them. They make a lovely sight flying together (difficult to capture due to my amateurish camera skills) Usually noisy creatures, I practiced using the DSLR while they were sitting quietly on the balcony railing.

Inspiration for the blog title
I was quite perplexed. Choosing a blog title comes with a lot of responsibility. It should be something new, something fun, something quirky or interesting, blah blah blah. I racked my brains for a while but could come up with nothing.
Then, I just happened to look at these gorgeous curtains in my sister's bedroom and it was right there that it struck me. I love these curtains, I tell you. They just brighten up the whole room.
First post
So after a lot of dilly-dallying, I finally decided to start this blog. I am on vacation right now and so have found ample time to post.
My day consists of sketching furiously (part of the homework assignment for my illustration class) and taking photographs (from my brother-in-law's lovely DSLR...I hope to own one soon). I also spend a lot of time online, much to the annoyance of my very-pregnant sister. But online is where I get most of my inspiration from, Tumblr being a favorite.
All that aside, this blog will mainly consist of my sketches and doodles, photographs (every once in a while), paintings (even rarer) and other things that happen to catch my fancy.
P.S. I do not write, so don't come looking for eloquent prose. I am an artist so I tell my stories through color and strokes.
