Stencils
So, we had a class on making stencils and painting with them. It was fun. Slightly difficult, coz you ave to figure out which part you actually wanna cut out and which part you want to keep. If you have a complex design, it can send you into a tizzy. Thankfully I kept mine fairly simple.
This was my first print.
I tried to do the second one in black and white but it got a bit messy.
Then I tried to make a different composition with parts of the stencil, as suggested by the facilitator. I used the hands from the original stencil and then created a few flower stencils. This is what resulted:

The Kiss
As I was doing research for my 1900 calendar assignment, I came across this painting by Gustav Klimt. I really liked the composition, the style, the textures that the artist has created. Everything about this painting really appealed to me.

I am inspired to paint looking at this. And I'm also really happy my research is turning out to be a great learning experience and super fun at the same time.

Notebooks
I love buying notebooks and sketchbooks. A stationery shop can burn a bigger hole in my pocket than any shoe/apparel store any given day. I happened to come across some lovely notepads online and gosh, I had to literally stop myself from ordering all of them. These are the times I wish I was still working and a few hundred bucks wouldn't make a difference.
Cute ha !
I love the illustration on this one..it's very similar to the stuff I do!
Perfect for a typography nerd :)
How about this fancy journal?
All these were found on Shopo, so if you wanna buy any you know where to find them. They have a huge range of notebooks to choose from, and tons of other stuff as well. Enjoy!

Quebec
Too much work always makes the mind wander, and what better way to do that than read pretty travel magazines.
Dabble is one of my favorite online mags. It has everything from travel, food, fashion, to design. It recently featured Quebec City and boy, do I wanna visit that place. So charming and pretty.
Here have a look, and do go read all about it on the website - Dabble.
Isn't it a beautiful city! I couldn't really believe it is in Canada. It's like someone picked it up from Europe and placed it there. Such old world charm.

Cubism
For those who are new to the term, Cubism was one of the first truly modern movements to emerge in art. It evolved during a period of heroic and rapid innovation between Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, in the early 20th century.
Oh, this is all the influence of my new course - The History of Graphic Design. I quite like the course. I love looking at pretty art books and reading up on these really great art movements that changed so much in the world. Art really has been a great influence on almost everything.
So, we had an assignment to make a postcard choosing one art movement and one issue in today's world. My group (the one that won the class quiz and got to choose first *takes a bow*) chose Cubism and Animal Cruelty. This is the postcard I designed.

Jaipur - round 3
This time round, I explored very little but clicked a lot more.
A lot of foggy sunsets...perfect endings to cold winter days.
Pigeons everywhere...flying home in the evening.
So difficult to get a good shot of the birds in flight.
A lonely kite
And me in my awesome purple sock-shoes :)
A brightly lit corner in the sister's home...(don't forget to notice the old monk bottle!!)
And since it is the land of palaces, some had to be visited.

2012
I couldn't decide whether or not to write that usual reflective post about the year gone by. Maybe a little later. Maybe.
But 2012 started off great and that sure is worth writing about. The eve was spent with my closest, and it turned out to be super fun. And on new years day, I tried red-velvet cake. Well, it all looked very nice and pretty but the taste was meh. Maybe it wasn't very well made but ya, I wasn't impressed.
But it sure did make for a pretty picture :)
More on the new year and the year gone by soon.
